MISHAWAKA - Edmund "Boots" Coddens, 93, of
Mishawaka, IN, passed away on Monday, Jan. 21, in Morningside
Nursing and Memory Center, South Bend. Boots was born on January
29, 1914, in South Bend, as the son of Julius and Emily (Van
Autereve) Coddens. He was preceded in death by his parents;
two sisters, Julia Milstof and Mary Herman; a
brother, Henry; and a granddaughter, Ann Marie Thornton.
On May 1, 1937, in South Bend, he married
the former Helen Van Wanzele, who preceded him in death on
November 11, 1992. Surviving Boots are his daughter, Jacqueline
(Daniel) Thornton of South Bend; four grandchildren, Patti
(George) Felty, Sue (Ken) Brothers, Lori (Aaron) Flory
and Jon (Kathy) Thornton; and nine great-grandchildren. Boots
loved hunting, fishing and Belgian Bolling. He was a member of
St. Bavo Catholic Church, Eagles, BK Club and Bendix Retirement
Club Local 9.
Visitation for Boots will be on Thursday, Jan. 24, from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, in the funeral home, with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend.
