SOUTH BEND - Jennie Mae Clemons entered this world on April 17,
1950, and departed this life on Friday, March 12, 2010,
surrounded by her family. Born in Hickman, Kentucky, she was the
first-born daughter to Nasira (Jennie Jenkins) and Edward Coleman
Sr. She moved to Michigan City, IN, at an early age and attended
Elston High School. On September 17, 1971, she united in holy
matrimony to Walter Lee Clemons, and to this union two children
were born, Latonya and Jafar. From a previous relationship,
Quinton and Rolland Estes were born. She was a devoted wife and
mother to her family, giving each one special care. In 1979
Jennie and her family relocated to South Bend, IN, and she
confessed hope in Christ and joined Pilgrim Baptist Church under
the late Rev. Rollie. Jennie was a loving daughter, sister,
cousin, aunt, friend and proud grandmother and great-grandmother.
Jennie was always concerned about all children's welfare; she
helped raise plenty of her nieces, nephews and cousins. Jennie
was an employee of The Children's Hospital until her illness in
1985. Jennie had a great sense of humor. She loved to watch old
movies, go shopping, and spend time with her family and friends.
