SOUTH BEND - Chester Clemans, 71, of
Roosevelt Road, died at 9:48 a.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph Hospital,
Mishawaka. Mr. Clemans retired in 1989 from Raitt Corp. as
manager of properties. He was born Aug. 1, 1924, in Mishawaka.
On Jan. 2, 1944, in South Bend, he married
Naomi O. Cherryholmes. She survives with three daughters,
Phyllis Kaetzer and Susan Henderson, both of South
Bend, and Patricia Baba of White Pigeon; six
grandchildren; and a sister, Elizabeth Freed of Mishawaka.
He was a charter member and former secretary of Centre Township
Lions Club, receiving their Lion of the Year Award six times; was
a member of Robin Hood Men's Golf Club; Lions International,
receiving their Melvin Jones Fellowship and Presidential Award;
and South Bend Transportation Club, receiving their Pioneer
Award. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in
Guisinger Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Chapel
Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and
6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions
may be made to the Lions Club Eye Bank.
