SOUTH BEND - Richard Harold "Dickey" Clay Sr., 66, of
Dallas, TX, formerly of South Bend, IN, a beloved father,
grandfather, brother, uncle and friend departed this life on
Thursday, January 21, 2010, at Brooks Hospital in Dallas, TX,
from a brief illness. He was a graduate of Riley High School. He
bravely served his country in 1964 and was a Vietnam veteran. He
devoted his life to work and earning a living. Richard worked for
the following construction companies: Hickey, Murdock and
Battest. He leaves to forever cherish his memory his former wife,
Linda (Clay) Jones of South Bend, IN; their children, Casey
Harper, Rica Clay of South Bend, IN, and Brittany Clay of San
Antonio, TX; Shirley Paige of San Antonio, TX, and their
children, Crystal Clay, Sir Richard (Stacey) Clay Ill of South
Bend, IN, and Sonjia Clay of San Antonio, TX; and two stepsons,
Robert and Darrell Reid of South Bend, IN. Richard is also
survived by four brothers, Jerry Clay, Donald Clay, Dale Clay and
Jonathan Clay, all of South Bend, IN; two sisters, Vanessa Clay
of South Bend, IN, and Sheila Clay of Carbondale, IL. He also
leaves to cherish 20 grandkids, nine great-grandkids, and special
friends, Amy Williams of Dallas, TX, Dora Booker and Luther Jones
of Dallas, TX, along with host of nieces, nephews, cousins and
friends. Preceding him in death were his mother, Geneva Clay;
father, Richard Thomas Clay; and sister, Gwen Clay. Three uncles,
Clone S. Clay, Leonard Clay Sr. and Ay Clay, one aunt, Francis
Marie (Burks) Braylock, one stepson, Willie Pickett, and two
grandkids, Matthew and Justin Clay. Dickey was a true inspiration
to all who knew and loved him. He will be forever missed. Funeral
services for Mr. Richard Harold Clay Sr. will be held at 1:00
p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2010, in Pentecostal Cathedral
COGIC, with burial following at Highland Cemetery. Arrangements
have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary where messages to
