MISHAWAKA - Esther Irene Claxton, 80, of Alford Street in
Mishawaka, passed away of natural causes at 4:30 a.m. Monday,
February 25, 2008, in the Golden Living Center. Esther was born
on September 26, 1927, in Mishawaka, to the late Albert and
Climena (Lovell) Light.
On January 13, 1951, Esther was married to
Mr. James Maurice Claxton Jr. in South Bend. Surviving are her
husband, James M. Claxton Jr. of Mishawaka; a son, James A.
(Kris) Claxton of Osceola; and a daughter, Lori A. (Tim) Young
of Mishawaka. Esther is also survived by her brother, Robert
(Doris) Light of Florida; three granddaughters, Sheila (Nelson) Annis,
Dena (Kevin) Hutchinson and Jodi (Jeff) Casto; as
well as 11 great-grandchildren and three
great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m.
Saturday, March 1, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley
Highway, Osceola, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Esther
was a graduate of Mishawaka High School, class of 1946. Esther
was employed by Dodge Manufacturing for six years and later by
the School City of Mishawaka as a cafeteria attendant. She
enjoyed swimming and fishing, spending time at the lake with her
family, and baking wonderful meals for her family and friends.
