James Robert Clauser

SOUTH BEND - James Robert Clauser, 79, of South Bend,
Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, at the Healthwin
Specialized Care Center, South Bend, after an extended illness.
He was born on February 24, 1929, in Spencerville, Indiana to the
late Eva (Watt) and Warren Clauser. Mr. Clauser was also
preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Baker.
On February 26, 1950, in South Bend, he
married Jeanne Fettel who survives. Mr. Clauser is also
survived by two sons, Gary (Rebeca) Clauser of Monroe, VA, and
Brian (Sandy) Clauser of South Bend; nine grandchildren, Gary
(Heather) Vargo, Philip, Kindra, Sarah, Laura, and Nicholas
Clauser, Ashlie Aiken, Arielle and Gabrielle Clauser; two
great-grandchildren, Cade Vargo and Amber Clauser of South
Bend; a sister, Carolyn (Larry) Liechty of Berne, Indiana;
three brothers, Warren (Naomi) Clauser of South Bend, Richard
Clauser of South Bend and Robert (Ginny) Clauser of Ft. Wayne,
Indiana; a brother-in-law, Jerry Baker of Ft. Wayne; and a
brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Bonnie Whiteford of
Granger, Indiana. When Mr. Clauser was 18 years old he became a
postal carrier for the U.S. Post Office where he worked until
retiring at age 55. He also was a carrier for the South Bend
Tribune for 16 years. Mr. Clauser was a 1947 graduate of the
former Washington Clay High School and had served in the United
States Marine Corps. Mr. Clauser was a true family man who loved
and cherished his grandchildren. He also had a special place in
his heart for his caregivers at Healthwin Specialized Care
Center, whom he loved and was grateful for. James Robert Clauser
will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral Services for Mr. Clauser will be at
11 a.m. Monday, May 12, in Trinity Evangelical Free Church, 61770
Miami Road, South Bend. Rev. Steve Meck will conduct the
services. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 11, in
the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road,
South Bend, and one hour prior to the services on Monday at the
church. Burial will be at a later date in the Porter Rea Cemetery
located on the grounds of Potato Creek State Park. The family
requests that memorial contributions be made to the Healthwin
Specialized Care Center, 20531 Darden Road, South Bend, Indiana
46637.
