Johnie Lee Clark

SOUTH BEND - Deacon Johnie Lee Clark, 76, of South Bend, IN, passed away from this life on Saturday, November 8, 2008, after an extended illness. Deacon Clark was born May 1, 1932, in Tyronza, AR, to Ethel Mae (who preceded him in death) and Arther C. Clark. He served in the United States Air Force and later relocated to South Bend, IN, after receiving his honorable discharge. He later married and started a family. Also, he worked and retired from the Honeywell Corporation (Bendix) in 1988. He confessed Christ at an early age and was an active member of Saint Paul Bethel Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithfully on the Deacon Board, Prayer Ministry, Sunday School and Mission, as well as served others until his illness. Deacon Clark is survived by his wife, Modena of 49 years; father, Rev. Arther C. Clark; nine sons, Johnie Jr. of Houston, TX, Isiah of Seattle, WA, Clyde-Boe, Arther, James, Michael Wayne and Charles, all of South Bend, Danney (Lisa) of Bel Air, MD, and Emmett of Indianapolis, IN. Also, two daughters, Beverly-Pam of Oakland, CA, and Marsha-Ann (Clif) of Chino Hills, CA; a mother-in-law, Thelma White of South Bend; and a lifelong family friend, Firdia Johnson of South Bend. Additionally, nine grandchildren, Lynette (Derrick), JaNeisha of Houston, TX, Terron (Tasha) of South Bend, Jalese and Tarmanine of Sacramento, CA, Micheal, Michaele, Ike, James and Jala, all of South Bend; and 12 great-grandchildren. Also left to cherish his memories are sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of other family members and friends. Special mention to his adopted sister, the Hale family and brother the Bond family.

 

Visitation services will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 13th, in the Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, Nov. 14th, at noon in St. Paul Bethel M.B. Church, 621 Lindsey St.; friends may call one hour before services. Burial will follow services at Highland Cemetery. The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
