Irene A. Claffey, 88, of Mayflower Road, South Bend, Ind., died at 1:25 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 6, in Hospice House. She was born on May 7, 1910, in South Bend, and lived in this area all of her life. She retired from Wells Electronics, Inc.

As Irene Jagadics, she married George ''Bud'' Claffey, who died in 1965. She was also preceded in death by a son, Donald Claffey in 1991. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Bernadette Claffey of South Bend; three grandchildren, Rhea Luczkowski, Anne Varner and Mark Claffey, all of South Bend; and by a sister, Anne Luke of Scottsdale, Ariz.

Family and friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of services on Friday in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday in the church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
