MISHAWAKA - Gertrude J. Cierzniak, 72, of Lowell Wood W., died at 6:15 a.m. today in Ironwood Health & Rehabilitation Center, South Bend, of natural causes. Mrs. Cierzniak retired as a secretary from Bendix Corp., South Bend. She was born June 3, 1921, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. On July 28, 1956, in South Bend, as Gertrude Hazinski, she married Eugene S. Cierzniak. He died Feb. 15, 1986.

She is survived by a son, Paul A. of Mishawaka; a sister, Ruth Kopetski of Mishawaka; and a brother, Arthur A. Hazinski of South Bend. She was a member of M.R. Falconettes, South Bend, St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, and was a volunteer at St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the church. Cremation will take place. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. There will be no visitation. Kaniewski Funeral Home, South Bend, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to any charity.
