SOUTH BEND - Elizabeth "Betty" Chrobot, 65, of South
Bend, died at 4:14 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2010, in Memorial
Hospital in South Bend after a long-term illness. Betty was born
December 19, 1944, in South Bend, to the late Omar G. and Louise
(Szabo) Lootens. Also preceding her in death were one brother,
Richard Lootens, and two sisters, Carolyn Billey and Alberta
Lootens. Surviving Betty are two daughters, Kandie (Ray) Schultz
of Mishawaka and Gerrie Warren (Brad Awalt) of Clear Lake Shores,
TX; one son, Ronald J. Chrobot Jr. of South Bend; four
grandchildren, Dennis, Joshua, Samantha and Michael. Also
surviving are one sister, Virginia (Lyle) Snyder of South Bend;
one sister-in-law, Jane Lootens of Marion, IN; one
brother-in-law, Paul Billey of South Bend; and many nieces and
nephews. Betty was employed by Memorial Hospital as a nurse on
the 11th floor until her illness. Prior to that, she had been
employed by Memorial Home Health Care. Betty graduated from
I.U.S.B. in 1996. Memorial services for Betty will be held
Tuesday, March 9th, at 5:00 p.m. in St. Patrick Catholic Church,
309 S. Taylor St., South Bend, with the Rev. Richard Laurick
officiating. Hahn Funeral Home is assisting the family with
arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that
memorial donations be made to Pet Refuge, 2300 W. 6th St.,
Mishawaka, IN 46544; or to the American
Cancer Society , 601 W. Edison Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
