Dorothy Christin

Dorothy Christin, a former resident
of South Bend, died in Virginia Beach, Virginia suddenly on May
24 from an aneurysm. She had not been seriously ill. Burial
services will take place in South Bend on June 12 at 3:00 p.m. at
Mount Calvary Cemetery in South Bend located at 63568 U.S. 31
South next to Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. The cemetery is near
Lakeville, Indiana, on the left if traveling south on Michigan.
Friends are welcome to attend. Dorothy attended Ohio State
University, University of Dayton, Briarcliff College and Sarah
Lawrence College, where she studied literature. She once wrote a
column for the Davenport, Iowa Diocesan Paper and several
articles on children in various magazines.
Funeral services were held May 27 at Church
of The Ascension in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Dorothy is survived
by her loving husband, Dr. Robert Christin, who taught in the
Department of English, University of Notre Dame 1953 through
1966. She is also survived by seven sons, Robert (Barbara) of
Washington Grove, Md., George (Audrey) of Bedford, Mass., Michael
(Terry) of Toano, Va., Matthew of San Francisco, Calif., Joseph
of Virginia Beach, Va., Edward of Rochester, N.Y. and John
(Linda) of Mohegan Lake, N.Y.; two daughters, Rita Bertino
(Joseph) of Ossining, N.Y. and Mary Christin (John Becker)
of Watertown, Mass. She is survived also by twelve grandchildren.
A son, Paul, at fifteen died in South Bend from an accident in
1965. Dorothy's parents, her son, Paul, and an aunt are buried in
Mount Calvary Cemetery.
