SOUTH BEND - Donald H. Christianson, 82, of South Bend, passed
away at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, July 8, 2010 in his home after an
extended illness. He was born on February 20, 1928 in New London,
WI to Henry and Pearl (Thorn) Christianson. On August 20, 1949 in
South Bend, he married the former Margie Bauer. Mr. Christianson
is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Margie Christianson;
sister-in-law, Phyllis Singleton of South Bend, and many nieces
and nephews. His sister, Jeanne Bentz and brother, Harvey
Christianson preceded him in death. Mr. Christianson was a
lifelong area resident. He served honorably in the United States
Navy as a Seaman Second Class during World War II. Mr.
Christianson drove a semi truck for Pepsi-Cola Corp. He was a
member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Lakeville. He
was also a member of the Teamster Union #364 and a lifetime
member of the VFW Post 1167. Funeral services will be held at
2:00 p.m. Monday, July 12, 2010 in the Palmer Funeral
Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend. Rev. Paul
Choorathottiyil will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland
Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 6:00
to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 11th in the funeral home. Contributions
in memory of Donald H. Christianson may be offered to Sacred
Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 63568 U.S. 31 South, Lakeville,
