Ann Slick Chreist

Ann Slick Chreist, 89, a lifelong
resident of South Bend, Ind., passed away on Tuesday, July 27.
She was born on June 22, 1910, in South Bend, to Mary and Charles
Slick. She was a graduate of South Bend High School, and Indiana
University where she was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Slick Byrne.
She married Dr. Joseph E. Lang on Nov. 16, 1935, who also
preceded her in death on April 30, 1963. On Sept. 2, 1964, she
married Louis R. Chreist. Mrs. Chreist is survived by her
husband, Louis, and their five children, Charles (Marcia) Lang of
Two Harbors, Minn., Joseph Lang of Naples, Fla., Thomas (Phyllis)
Lang of North Liberty, Ind., Robert (Lynn) Chreist of Carmel,
Ind., and Ann Chreist (Thomas) Cooper of South Bend; five
grandchildren, Amy DeHaven, Beth Dugan, Eric
Chreist, Justin Cooper and Nash Cooper; and by two great-
grandchildren. She was active in many local, civic and charitable
organizations, including the American Association of University
Women, the Pan Hellenic Association, the Hoosier Art Patron
Society, the Kiwanis Auxiliary, and the Schuyler Colfax Chapter
of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of
St. Paul's Memorial United Methodist Church where she was member
of the Administrative Board, the Memorials Committee and the
Women's Society of Christian Services. For many years Mrs.
Chreist was involved in the operation of her family's business,
Slick's Laundry and Cleaners.
A memorial service for Mrs. Chreist will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 1, at St. Paul's Memorial United Methodist Church, 1001 West Colfax Avenue, South Bend. Cremation and private graveside services have already taken place at Riverview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Memorial United Methodist Church. Final arrangements are being handled by the Welsheimer Funeral Home.
