George Edmund Chartier

May 5, 1897 – January 29, 1954

George Edmund Chartier, 302 N. Sunnyside Ave., died at 9:42am Friday in Hines Hospital, Chicago.  He had been ill four months. 

A member of the Disabled American veterans, Mr. Chartier was born in South Bend, May 5, 1897, and lived here all his life.  He is survived by his father, Edmund G., of South Bend; two sons, Jack, of Mishawaka, and Robert, of Chicago; a daughter, Mrs. Dwain Sherberger and a brother, Harry, both of South Bend; a sister, Mrs. Ray Born, of Dowagiac MI and five grandchildren.

Friends may call in McGann’s Funeral Home after 7pm today.  Services will be held at 9am Monday in St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Rev. Joseph Healy, CSC, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Richard and Harold Born, Al Chartier, George White, and Vick and Edward Barcome. 

The rosary will be recited at 8pm Sunday in the funeral home.
