Catherine E. Chapman, 68, of 60400 South Main Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away after an extended illness at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center, South Bend. Mrs. Chapman was born on June 25, 1931 in Atherton, Ind., and resided in the Michiana area during her lifetime.

In August 1954 in South Bend as Catherine E. Sills, she married Virgil D. Chapman, who preceded her in death on April 7,1974. Mrs. Chapman is survived by her mother, Nellie Sills of South Bend; a daughter, Deborah M. (Bert) De Knikker of South Bend; two sons, Tim A. Chapman of South Bend and Christopher I. (Annette) Chapman of Walkerton, Ind.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren whom she loved and cherished; and by three sisters, Marjorie J. (Paul) Rupert of Bremen, Ind., Rosalie (Dale) Woodcox of New Carlisle, Ind., and Delores (John) Zimmerman of South Bend.

Visitation hours will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14 in the HANLEY & SONS "SOUTHWEST CHAPEL" FUNERAL HOME located at West Ireland Road/Indiana 23, South Bend.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, in the funeral Home with Pastor Ken Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. The family requests that all memorial contributions be made to the St. Joseph County Heart Association or to charity of donor choice. The HANLEY & SONS "SOUTHWEST CHAPEL" FUNERAL HOME handled arrangements and services and extend heartfelt sympathy to the Chapman family.
