MISHAWAKA - Oval W. Chambers, 87, of
14522 Day Road, died at 2:55 a.m. Wednesday at Rosewood Terrace
Nursing Home, Elkhart. Mr. Chambers retired from Wick's Corp. and
had been employed 37 years at Studebaker Corp. He was born Dec.
6, 1907, in Lewis, Ind., and had lived in the South Bend area 69
years.
On March 8, 1956, in South Bend, he married
Mable Gill. She survives with two daughters, Frankie Weigert
of Key West, Fla., and Terry Gray of Mishawaka; a son,
James A. Gray of South Bend; four grandchildren; a
great-grandchild; two sisters, Dorothy Miller of Marcellus
and Elsie Rodgers of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; and a brother,
Manson of South Bend. He was a member of American Legion Post
303, South Bend, and served with the Navy during World War II and
the Korean War.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in
Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola. Burial will be in Chapel Hill
Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m.
Friday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to
Alzheimer's Association.
