Edgar W. Chamberlin, 79, of
Belleville, Ill., formerly of Mishawaka, Ind., died Friday, Aug.
9, in his home in Belleville. He was born Aug. 1, 1923 in
Mishawaka.
He married Edith Chamberlin (Martens),
who survives. He is also survived by four sons, Mark Allen
(Doreen) of Windsor Heights, Iowa, John Michael of Hoyleton,
Ill., and Glen David and Daniel Wayne (Dawn), both of Belleville;
four sisters, Sally, Alice, Ruth and Frannie; five brothers,
Bruce, Don, Tom, Ray and Warren; four grandchildren, Rebecca,
Alexander, Zachary and Henry; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice and George
Chamberlin.
Edgar was employed by Kaskaskia Library
System as the executive director. He served in the Army Air Corps
during World War II, from Feb. 18, 1943, to Dec. 8, 1945. He was
also a member of St. Mary's Church, and was a volunteer for the
Radio Information Service at the Shrine of Our Lady of Snows.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St.
Mary's Catholic Church, Belleville. Father John Myler will be
officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Pete
Gaerdner Funeral Home. Interment will be at Green Mount Catholic
Cemetery, Belleville. Memorials may be made to the American
Cancer Society.
