SOUTH BEND - Marvin Glen Chalk, 84, of South Bend,
formerly of Dewart Lake, passed away at 3:25 a.m., Wednesday,
November 21, 2007, in Regency Place Nursing Home, with his loving
daughter by his side. Marvin was born on June 16, 1923, in Peru,
IN to the late Albert and Gladys (Wagner) Chalk.
On March 2, 1946, he married Helen Johnson.
She preceded him in death on November 24, 1998. He is also
preceded in death by one daughter, Kelly Sue Chalk; one grandson,
Shawn Mast; one sister, Bessie Cartwright; and two
brothers, Robert and Leo Chalk. He is survived by his daughter,
Marvee (Tim) Wells of Osceola; son, James Chalk of North
Webster, IN; three grandchildren, Scott (Mindy) Campbell
of Osceola, Rob (Charity) Chalk of North Webster, and Michael
(Jamie) Chalk of Syracuse; seven great-grandchildren, Alexandria,
Adrianna, Trysten, Kyle, Alexandria, Tyler, and Caitlyn. He is
also survived by two sisters, Mary Jo (Lloyd) Woods of
Rochester and Wanda Orpurt of Peru, IN; and his longtime
companion Poodle, Penni.
Marvin proudly served his country during
World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946, after
obtaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a member of the
V.F.W. in Syracuse, Big Boulder Golf Club, Milford and a 50-year
member of the former Moose Lodge 58, where he held many offices.
He will be remembered for his love of hunting, fishing, bowling
and golfing. He was the owner/operator of Marv's Electric
Service.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m.,
Sunday, November 26, 2007, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776
McKinley Highway, Osceola, with a Member Moose funeral service.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, November 27,
2007, in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill
Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Memorial donations may be made to the
Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook
Ct., South Bend, IN 46637 or to the River Bend Cancer Society,
