SOUTH BEND - Mr. Emory H. Cephus, 86, departed this life at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2008, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend, Indiana. Emory was born to the union of John T. and Adell (Colston) Cephus on January 4, 1922, in Hale County, Alabama, who both preceded him in death. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1946. Coming from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in 1948 he moved to South Bend. He retired from the South Bend Community School Corporation in 2005 as a bus driver. He was a very active member of Laymen Chapel CME Church where he formerly served as a trustee. Emory leaves to mourn his passing daughters, brothers, nieces, nephews, a personal friend, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Emory H. Cephus will be held at noon on Friday, May 9, 2008, in Laymen Chapel CME Church, with burial following at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to noon in the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary .
