Kathlene Barnes-Celie, 69, of South Bend passed away at 5:29 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3 in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend. Kathlene was born on July 24, 1932 in South Bend as the daughter of the late Paul and Delores (Wellman) Barnes.

On March 24, 1967 in South Bend as Kathlene Barnes she married Raymond Celie, who survives. Also surviving are her son, Jeffrey P. (Mechelle) Celie of Niles, MI; her daughter, Michelle (Jason) Trail of Mishawaka; a stepdaughter Patty Meeks of Reno, NV; two stepsons, Raymond Celie Jr. of Ft. Wayne, IN and Michael Celie of Edwardsburg, MI; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Kathlene was a longtime resident of South Bend, she graduated from Riley High School and IU Bloomington. She worked for the South Bend Medical Foundation for ten years then she worked for the South Bend Community School Corporation for 15 years before retiring in 1997.

Friends may call from 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday October 7 in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday October 8 in Hahn Funeral Home. Rev. Terry White from Bethel Baptist Church in Niles, MI will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.
