Feb. 22, 1914 - April 13, 1998
Frederick G. Cecchi, 84, formerly of Mishawaka, Ind., passed away on Monday, April 13, in Denver, Colo.
Mr. Cecchi was born in Terre Haute, Ind., on Feb. 22, 1914, and moved to Mish-awaka in 1924, where he lived until 1993.
On Oct. 22, 1938, Fred married the former Winifred Bickel in St. Monica Church, Mishawaka. She preceded him in death on April 30, 1987.
Fred is survived by a daughter, Sharon M. Woolhiser of Bay City, Mich.; three sons, Michael F. Cecchi of Phoenix, Ariz., Thomas G. Cecchi of Sacramento, Calif., and Frederick J. Cecchi of Denver, Colo.; and by seven grandchildren.
Mr. Cecchi was a 1933 graduate of Mishawaka High School, was a former Mishawaka City Building Commissioner and Planning Director, a former vice president of City Planning Associates and the First Community Development Corporation. Fred was appointed to the board of directors of Valley American Bank in 1965, where he served until 1993. He was the founder of Cecchi Associates in 1973, and was also a veteran of World War II. Fred was a longtime active member of the Kiwanis Club of Mishawaka.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 16, in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka, where a wake service will be held at 3:45 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 17, in St. Monica Church, with interment immediately following in Fairview Cemetery.
