WALKERTON - Velma D. Barden Cavin, 92, of Walkerton, IN, passed
away at 5:21 p.m. Monday, January 25th, in Memorial Hospital
after suffering an apparent heart attack at home. Velma was born
on September 26, 1917, in Montana, and had resided in the area
her lifetime. On March 26, 1939, as Velma D. Gordon, she married
Arthur R. Barden, who preceded her in death on February 9, 1988.
Velma and her husband Arthur owned and operated the Gamble
General Store from 1960-1972. They also owned Barden Green House
from 1970-1980. Mrs. Barden is survived by three daughters,
Deloris A. (Jerry) Young of Lisbon, Ohio, Nancy L. (Carl) Shores
of Ft. Myers, FL, and Dorothy M. Paul (Joe) Kronk of Walkerton,
IN. Also two sons survive, Elson R. (Lynn) Barden of Walkerton,
IN, and Edward E. Barden of Tavares, FL; 15 grandchildren, 31
great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren whom she
loved and cherished; and a sister, Vivian Siple of Phoenix, AZ.
Velma loved gardening and was an avid lover of all flowers. She
was a member of the Blissville Church of the Brethren and the
Moose Lodge in Plymouth, IN. She was a wonderful wife, mother and
grandmother who will be dearly missed by her loving family and
all who had the opportunity to know her during her life journey.
The family request, in lieu of flowers, please make all memorial
contributions to the Marshall County Center for Hospice and
Palliative Care, Inc. Visitation hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m.

"Walkerton Chapel," located at 1216 Roosevelt Road,
Walkerton. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Friday,
January 29th, in the funeral home. Burial to follow at Morris
Cemetery, Walkerton. The HANLEY & SONS Funeral Home
"Walkerton Chapel" handled arrangements and services
and extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the
family.
