NEW CARLISLE - Charles Lee Cavin, 55,
of 32670 Chicago Trail, died at 10:25 p.m. Tuesday in his home
after an illness. Mr. Cavin was a farmer and was employed in the
maintenance department at Whirlpool Corp. He was born Oct. 10,
1938, in LaPorte, and was a lifelong area resident.
On April 8, 1961, in Otis, he married Agnes
I. Gorski. She survives, with a daughter, Deborah L. Cavin
of LaPorte; a son, David L. of LaPorte; a sister, Carolyn Szymkowski
of LaPorte; and a brother, Darrel of Michigan City. A son, Dale
L., preceded him in death. He was a member of St.
Stanislaus-Kostka Catholic Church, Terre Coupee, past vice
president of United Auto Workers Local 1172, and founded the
Girls Softball League in the Rolling Prairie area.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in
Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte. Burial will be in Rolling Prairie
Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from
8 a.m. until time of services Friday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the LaPorte Hospital Cancer
Treatment Center.
