Frances “Mayme” Catlin, formerly of Farrington Circle, passed away on Tuesday, May 4th, in Regency Place South Bend IN. She was 83 years old.
Frances was born in Washington NC, to Joseph L. and Fannie M. (Dawson) Hopps, who preceded her in death. She lived in Chicago IL but spent the last 45 years of her life in South Bend where she married Norman R. Catlin in 1968. Norman preceded her in death in 1979. Also preceding her in death was her brother, William Hopps.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda L. (Robert) Meyer of Lafayette IN and Cathleen R. (Stanley II) Wruble of South Bend; five grandchildren, Robert Meyer, Theresa Meyer, Stanley Wruble III, Leah (Paul) Steinhiser and Todd Wruble; two great grandchildren, Jessica Steinhiser and Nicholas Steinhiser; and her brother, J.D. Hopps of Seattle WA
Frances worked at the Salvation Army for thirty years and was an adult rehab administrator. She helped with the USO during World War II, was a member of the Order of the Silver Star and also a member of the Salvation Army Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 8pm on Friday, May 7th, in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 1827 E. Ireland Road, South Bend. Services will be held at 10am on Saturday, May 8th, in the funeral home, with Col. Dennis Phillips officiating. Burial to follow at St Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger IN
