Marian Catanzarite, 96, of St. Paul's Retirement Community, passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003. There was a mistake in yesterday's death notice, visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Monday in the McGann Funeral Home, University Area Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Rd. at Ironwood where there will be a parish Vigil Service at 3:30 p.m.
Marian was born on Nov. 23,1906, in Plati, Italy to Patsy and Catherine Zirilli. In 1922, she married Joseph Catanzarite and in 1923 she came to America and lived in Ambridge, Penn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, a daughter, Catherine and four brothers, Domenick, Sam, Frank and John Zirilli.
She has one loving daughter and three devoted sons surviving, Theresa (Virgil) Wibbens, Domenick (Charlene) Catanzarite, Pat (Betty) Catanzarite, and Joseph (Elsie) Catanzarite. Marian has 13 grandchildren, John (Tess) Wibbens, Cheryl (Neil) Lesh, Jim (Elaine) Catanzarite, Bob Catanzarite, Don Paul (Dianne) Catanzarite, Chris (Mike) Howlett, David (Mary) Catanzarite, Tom (Billie), Larry, Cathy, and P.J. Catanzarite, Laura Shoemaker, and Joseph Jr. (Sylvia) Catanzarite. She has 21 great-grandchildren, Erin, Melissa, Zachary, Andrew, Christopher, Alexandra, Brady, Matthew, Michael, Allison, Nicholas, Luke, Ryan, Adam, Cory, Scott, Jeff, Dean, Brooke, Denny, and Jessica. She has two great-great grandchildren, Owen and Payton. A sister Josephine Trimboli also survives.
Marian was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella. She was employed by White House Manufacturing. Friends and family loved her Italian cooking and homemade bread. Grandma C was loved by everyone.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Monday in the McGann Funeral Home, University Area Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Rd., at Ironwood where there will be a parish Vigil Service at 3:30 p.m. The Rite Christian of Burial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Saint Joseph Catholic Church on Hill St. at LaSalle Ave., Rev. Paul F. Doyle, CSC, will officiate. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to St. Joseph's Parish.
