MISHAWAKA - Frances "Nana" Catanzarite passed
away peacefully in her home with her family at her side on
Thursday, February 7, 2008. She was born in Reggio Calabria,
Italy to Frank & Mary (DeMarco) Serge.
Frances married Anthony Catanzarite at St.
Monica Catholic Church on August 5, 1926, he preceded her in
death on February 24, 1989. She was also preceded in death by her
parents, a sister, Rose Serge and a brother, Joseph Serge. Mrs.
Catanzarite is survived by three daughters, Mary (Joseph) Simeri
of Mishawaka, Josephine (Patrick) Simeri & Rita (Richard) Rucano
both of Granger; seven grandchildren, Patti Simeri, Marie Rucano,
Rosemary (Kevin) Pickrell, Gina (Terry) Kelly, Tony
(Stephanie) Rucano, Richard (Dusty) Rucano, Francine (Matthew) Riley;
eight great-grandchildren, Tony, Gina, Sarah, Matthew, Brandon,
Camille, Patrick and Christopher. Also surviving are two sisters,
Josephine Germano of Mishawaka, Annette Kubasik of
South Bend and a brother Patrick (Jackie) Serge of Mishawaka.
Frances was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church. She had
formerly worked at Ball Band and was an excellent homemaker. She
was a loving and caring mother, who enjoyed being with her
family, cooking for them and always being there for them, she was
their role model.
Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, February 9, 2008, from 1 to7 p.m. at Bubb Funeral Chapel 3910 N. Main St. where the Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. There will be a visitation at Saint Monica Catholic Church on Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. with the rite of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Fr. Jeffery Largent officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Fairview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Monica Catholic Church, 222 W. Mishawaka Av., Mishawaka, Indiana 46545. The Broken Chain We didn't know that morning that God was going to call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone; For part of us went with you, the day God called you home. You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide, and though we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same; But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
