Sr. M. Corona Cassiday, CSC

Sister M. Corona (Mary Louise Cassiday), C.S.C., 84, died on Monday, July 3, at Saint Mary's Convent, Notre Dame, Ind.
Sister M. Corona was born on April 3, 1916, to the late Thomas P. and Mary Ellen O'Connell Cassiday in Pittsburgh, Pa. Sister M. Corona entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1936, made her first profession in 1938, and her final profession in 1941.
Sister M. Corona was an elementary school teacher from 1931 to 1971, teaching in Virginia, Washington, D.C., Texas and North Carolina. Sister was Principal of Blessed Sacrament School, Alexandria, Va., and taught religious education. In 1977 she was appointed as Regional Administration Councillor, and did parish work until 1978. Sister then was Moreau Regional Councillor from 1978 to 1981. She was a member of the Postulate 1981-1984, a sabbatical in Ontario, Canada, and then Moreau Regional Councillor 1985-1989. Sister moved to Saint Mary's and did community service for a number of years. She entered into the Prayer Apostolate in 1992, and was available to those who needed a quiet thought, a kind word and a compassionate response.
Sister M. Corona is survived by her sisters, Sister M. Adelaide (Cassiday) of Indiana and Catherine Schlairet of Monroeville, Pa.; and by a niece, Janet Anticich of Export, Pa.
Wake service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 6, in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 7, in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, with interment at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of the Holy Cross Ministry with the Poor Fund, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN 46556.
