George F. Cassell, age 92, residing
at 910 Eckman St., South Bend, died at 8:40 p.m. Monday, June 17,
1996, at St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend. Mr. Cassell
retired from Notre Dame as a bus driver and previously worked for
the Studebaker Corporation for 44 years. He also painted the YMCA
in South Bend. Mr. Cassell was born October 19, 1903, in
Hillville, Va., and has been a life long area resident.
Mr. Cassell was married Feb. 12, 1927, in
South Bend, to Belva B. Gatchel, who preceded him in death
September 7, 1989. Survivors include one daughter, Betty Lou Trevey
of Mishawaka; one grandson; two step-grandchildren; five
great-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m.
June 20, at the Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home located at 2528
Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery
in South Bend. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday,
June 19, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made
to the American Red Cross or the Salvation Army in South Bend.
