NEW CARLISLE - George B. Casaday, 79,
of West Michigan Street, died at 5:55 p.m. Monday in Memorial
Hospital, South Bend, after an illness. Mr. Casaday was a former
postmaster in New Carlisle and retired in 1971 as a letter
carrier for the U.S. Postal Service. He was born Sept. 5, 1914,
in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.
On April 24, 1942, in South Bend, he married
Edna I. Adams. She survives, with a daughter, Jean Gilpin
of New Carlisle; two sons, George B. Jr. of Lowell, Mass., and
Michael of Los Osos, Calif.; five grandchildren; and six
great-grandchildren. He was a member of National Association of
Letter Carriers.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday in
Kaniewski Funeral Home. Burial will be in New Carlisle Cemetery.
Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the New Carlisle Wesleyan
Church.
