SOUTH BEND - Sister M. Rita Dolores (Dolores Virginia Carr) CSC,
was born in Chicago to the late Cornelius and Sarah Gildea Carr.
She is predeceased by her brother, Ronald Carr and sisters, Rita
Carr, Rose Ellen (Fred) Stegmiller and Angella (John) Browne.
Sister is survived by her bother-in-law, John Browne; nephews,
Bob and Gerald Browne; and niece, Rita Dolores (Wm) Kahle, all of
Illinois; and cousin, Mrs. Jim Blackburn of Illinois. Before
entering the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in
1938, Sister came to Saint Mary's to complete high school. After
entering Holy Cross, Sister received her bachelor of science
degree from Saint Mary's College, and in 1964, her masters in
education from Loyola University in Chicago. Sister Rita Dolores
taught in the upper grades in schools in Indiana and Illinois for
over 50 years and was also principal and religious superior for
23 of those years. In 1977 Sister was in the library at St.
Joseph's School in South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made

the body and wake will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, in the
Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's, Notre Dame, IN
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 14 in the
Church of Our Lady of Loretto, Saint Mary's Notre Dame, IN. The
Kaniewski Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
