South Bend, IN — Joy C. Carr, 67 years old, residing on Poppy Road, passed away at 3:35 A.M. on Wednesday, December 27, 2000, at the Memorial Hospital, South Bend, unexpectedly from natural causes. Mrs. Carr was born on December 16, 1933, in St. Joseph County, IN, to the late Edgar and Gladys (Boggs) Platz. She has been a lifelong area resident.

On July 6, 1951, in North Liberty, she married George S. Carr who preceded in death on September 13, 1999. One brother, Earl Platz, and one sister, Edna Platz, both preceded in death. Mrs. Carr was a former employee of the former St. Joseph Bank and Trust company. She retired on December 22, 1995 from Memorial Hospital, South Bend, after 11 years with the Environmental Services Department. Mrs. Carr was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in South Bend, the Greene Township Golden Heirs, and Teamster Local #364.

Survivors include two daughters, Becky (Joe) Papai of South Bend and Susan (Tim) Lehman of Edwardsburg, MI; two sons, Dean Carr of North Liberty and Lee Carr of South Bend; three granddaughters, Ann Marie Papai of South Bend, Megan Erin Lehman of Edwardsburg, and Lindsay Nicole Lehman of Edwardsburg; one brother, Hillis (Gloria) Platz of North Liberty; two sisters-in-law, Grace Carr of Cassopolis, MI and Evadean Platz of Walkerton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 30, 2000, at the Palmer Funeral Home, 314 S. Michigan Street, Lakeville, IN. Rev. David Ault, pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church, South Bend, will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 3 to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 29, at the Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville. Contributions in memory of Joy C. Carr may be donated to the Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis, IN.
