SOUTH BEND - Johnnie Mae "Granny" Woods Carr, 79, was born on March 28, 1929, to the union of Cliff and Ruth (Williams) Woods in Oxford, Mississippi. Both parents preceded her in death along with a brother, Stanley Woods, and a sister, Annie Bernice (Woods) McEwen, and husband, John Wesley Carr. Granny's transition from this life occurred at 5:30 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2008, in the Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, 1950 Ridgedale Ave., South Bend, IN 46614. Celebrating her home-going is a daughter, Doris Gilmore-Mainer; son-in-law, Carl, and former son-in-law, Ollie Gilmore; brothers, Clifton Woods of South Bend, William Woods (Vickie) of Chicago, Illinois, Samuel Woods (Betty) of Oxford, Mississippi, Percy Woods (Alisha) of Las Vegas, Nevada; and sisters, Lula Ladmirault (Robert) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Robbie Burgin (Bobby) of South Bend, Ruthie Caston (O.C.) of Chicago, Illinois, and Betty Starling (Murray) of South Bend, Indiana; grandchildren, Sonja Hughes (Ivan), Stephen Gilmore (Ginger) and Shawna Rodriguez (Juan); six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and relatives.

Services for Mrs. Johnnie Mae "Granny" Woods will be held on Saturday, September 20, in the Greater St. John M.B. Church, 101 N. Adams St. Visitation will began at 10 a.m., with funeral services starting at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
