Mark J. Carrico, 48, residing on Hermitage Drive, South Bend, Ind., passed away on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 23, at his place of business.
Mark was born on Feb. 3, 1954, in South Bend, to the late James A. and Therese (Zeithaml) Carrico. He had lived in our local area since 1998, moving from Albuquerque, N.M.
On Aug. 21, 1982, he married the former Theresa McGinnis, who survives. Along with his wife, Theresa, survivors include two daughters, Julie Marie Carrico and Sarafina Carrico, and a son, Dominic Carrico, all at home; four sisters, Maura (Paul) Sedgeman of Romulus, Mich., Margaret "Polly" (Greg) Schmidt of Green Bay, Wis., Mary Ann (Tom) Padberg of South Bend and Marie (Joe) Kerbleski of Midland, Mich.; and by two brothers, Michael J. Carrico of South Bend and Matthew J. (Debbie) Carrico of Mount Vernon, Iowa.
Mark was an entrepreneur. He enjoyed running his own business. Mark was the owner and operator of Carrico Village of Oak Furniture in Lakeville, Ind. While residing in New Mexico for 20 years, he was a master craftsman who was extremely talented working with wood and custom cabinetry. Mark was a graduate of the University of New Mexico where he earned his bachelor's degree in anthropology. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he taught 8th grade religious education.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 63568 U.S. 31, South Bend. Rev. Thomas King, CSC, will officiate.
Cremation will follow with a private ceremony at a later date. Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, where a Rosary will be held at 5:30.
