SOUTH BEND - Margery E. Carmichael, 70, of Jewell Road, died at 6:30 p.m. Monday in her home after an illness. Mrs. Carmichael was a former cook at Centre Township School and a volunteer clerk at St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was born Nov. 11, 1925, in Marion, Ind., and lived in South Bend since 1946.

On Oct. 20, 1945, in Fayetteville, N.C., as Margery E. Ancil, she married Merle J. Carmichael. He died Sept. 20, 1972. She is survived by two daughters, Rita Egendoerfer of Granger and Nancy Rosandky of Mishawaka; two sons, Michael J. and Merle D., both of South Bend; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Goldie Dickson and Helen Dooley, both of Marion, Midge McDaniels of Huntington, Ind., and Martha Crawley of South Bend; and a brother, Max Ancil of Sweetser, Ind.
