Funeral services for Rev. William Arthur Carey CSC, 58, instructor in Latin at the University of Notre Dame, who was found dead Saturday in his room at Corby Hall, will be held at 8 a.m. Tuesday in Sacred Heart Church at Notre Dame, with burial following in the Community Cemetery at Notre Dame. He had been in ill health and died of a stroke of apoplexy.

 

He was a Notre Dame graduate and had come here for the week-end commencement services. He had returned to the university in 1933 after having served as vice president at the University of Portland in Oregon for four years. Previously he had been an instructor in Latin and Greek at Notre Dame from 1918 to 1926 and had served as registrar at Notre Dame from 1926 to 1929. He was born in Clyntan, Wis. July 19, 1888, and received a bachelor of arts degree at Notre Dame in 1911. He received a doctorate of philosophy degree at Catholic University of America, Washington DC in 1918. Survivors include a sister, Sister M. Pius CSC of St. Mary’s College.
