Bessie Irene Carbiener, 79, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of South Bend, Ind., died July 14. She was born in Elkhart, Ind., on May 24, 1921.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Homer C. Carbiener; one brother, David Roose of South Bend; two sisters, Bernice Quimby of Ocala, Fla., and Dorothy Gearhart of South Bend; and by nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held today, Monday, July 17 from 7-8 pm, in the Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N. 7th St. Phoenix, AZ 85020. Funeral service will be at 1 PM, Tuesday, July 18 in the Hansen Chapel, with interment following at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery in Phoenix. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Lincoln Heights Christian Church, 2121 E. Lincoln Dr., Phoenix, AZ 85016 or Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix St., Phoenix, AZ, 85014.
