Martha Canfield
Nov. 29, 1909 - Dec. 10, 1999
Martha Canfield, 90, of the Riverside
Regional Convalescent Center, Newport News, Va., formerly of Sixth
Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after an illness at 10 a.m.
on Friday, Dec. 10, in the center.
Mrs. Canfield was born on Nov. 29,
1909, in Mishawaka, as the daughter of the late Alois and Alice
(De Vreese) Martens. In September 1931, as the former Martha
Martens, she married James Canfield, who also preceded her in
death on Nov. 25, 1964.
Mrs. Canfield is survived by a
daughter, Mary (William) Jerzak of Gulf Shores, Ala.; two sons,
Charles (Gloria) Canfield of Rochester, Minn., and John (Natalie)
Canfield of Williamsburg, Va.; seven grandchildren and 10
great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Louise Goodrick of Lansing,
Mich.
Mrs. Canfield was a member of St.
Bavo's Catholic Church, Mishawaka.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m.
on Monday, Dec. 13, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka,
where a wake prayer service will be held at 4:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be
held at 12 noon on Tuesday, Dec. 14, at St. Bavo's Catholic
Church, with Rev. James Shafer officiating. Burial will follow in
Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
