Margaret L. Calhoun

Oct. 3, 1932 - Aug. 9, 2000

Margaret L. Calhoun (Brucker) of Tavares, Fla., died at Hospice House of Lake and Sumter Counties in Tavares after a long illness. She was born in Monterey, IN, on Oct. 3, 1932, to Carol and Helen Brucker, both deceased. She married Jack A. Calhoun, who survives, in 1951.

A former resident of New Carlisle, IN, for 45 years, Margaret owned and operated Calhoun's V&S. Variety Store for 27 years. Upon retiring Margaret and Jack relocated to Florida. She was a sister to Marvin Brucker of Coldiron, KY; and mother of five children, Janice (Roger) Holston, Walkerton, IN, David Calhoun, South Bend, IN, Robert Calhoun, Jacksonville, FL, Michael Calhoun and Judith (Ivan) Mark, both of Mishawaka, IN, all who survive. Margaret also had 10 grandchildren.

She was a lifetime member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority, and was an active member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, Terre Coupe. She belonged to the Rosary Sodality and was a past president of the New Carlisle Business and Professional Association. She was active in bowling and sponsored a team for several years.

She has touched our hearts and all those who knew her. She will remain in our hearts forever and she will be greatly missed. Thank you, God, for sharing her with all of us.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2000, in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Burial will follow in New Carlisle Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 14, and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert Street, New Carlisle, IN. A combined Parish and Rosary Sodality Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
