SOUTH BEND - Services for Johnnie D. Caldwell, 56, of West Dunham Street, who died about 2 p.m. Thursday in his home of natural causes, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Layman Chapel. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Alford's Mortuary, where an Elks Lodge service will be at 7:30 p.m.
Mr. Caldwell was a laborer with Bendix Corp. He was born Nov. 4, 1939. In 1956, in Trenton, Tenn., he married Doris Ann Roberson. She survives with three daughters, Debra Caldwell, Francine Campbell and Stephanie Hill, all of South Bend; four grandchildren; and a sister, Lee Anna Scott of South Bend. He was a member of Elks Lodge, LaSalle Landing Lodge 298, Layman Chapel and a past Sunday school superintendent and member of the deacon board.
