WALKERTON - Leslie Cable, 60, of Walkerton, IN, passed
away Friday, September 19, 2008, in his home. Les was born August
28, 1948, in LaPorte, IN, to Lloyd and Elmee (Johnson)
Cable, and lived his life in the Walkerton area. He was preceded
in death by his parents. On April 12, 1986, at Koontz Lake, he
was married to the former Pamela Schaunaman, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Jessica (Chad) Allen and
Heather (Keegan) Rauen, all of North Liberty; one
grandson, Ashtyn Cable; two stepgrandsons, Tarren Rauen and
Cassidy Allen; one sister, Barbara (LeRoy) Skiles of
Walkerton; and many nieces and nephews. Les was a former employee
of NIPSCO in Rolling Prairie, retiring in 2004 after 37 years of
service. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the 4th/64th
Division and the 603rd Transportation Division. He loved working
on Chevy Novas and watching NASCAR races. He also loved spending
time with his family.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11:00
a.m. Eastern Time in the Koontz Lake Missionary Church, with
Pastor Brian Baughman officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn
Cemetery, Walkerton, where military graveside services will be
conducted. Friends may call Monday from 4 to 9 p.m. EDT in
Rannells Funeral Home, Koontz Lake Chapel, and Tuesday at the
church after 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the
Koontz Lake Missionary Church or to the Center for Hospice and
Palliative Care of South Bend. The family wishes to thank the St.
Joseph County VNA and the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.
