Ellsworth R. Butz
July 9, 1901 - June 9, 1999
Ellsworth R. Butz, 97, of the Healthwin Specialized Care
Facility, South
Bend, Ind., died at 7:24 a.m. on wednesday, June 9,
in the facility.
He was born on July 9, 1901, in Logansport, Ind., to Edna
(Lenon) and Norman
Butz, both of whom preceded him in death. On Jan. 22, 1920,
in St. Joseph,
Mich., he married Edith Burdella Wysong, who also preceded
him in death on
Dec. 12, 1984.
Mr. Butz is survived by a daughter, Edna Douglas of
Osceola, Ind.; a son,
Robert Butz of Mishawaka, Ind.; and by eight grandchildren
and 12 great
grandchildren.
Mr. Butz retired in 1950 from the South Bend Police
Department after 20
years of service. He then became a safety director for
Clements Truck Lines for
16 years, retiring in 1966. He was a member of the First
United Methodist
church, Mishawaka. He was a 50-member of the Portage
Masonic Lodge 675 F & AM and
a member of the South Bend Scottish Rite.
Services for Mr. Butz will be at 10 a.m. on Friday,
June 11, in the
Welsheimer Funeral home, 521 North William Street, South
Bend. Rev. Daniel Motto of
the First United Methodist Church, Mishawaka, will conduct
the services.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today, June 10, in the
funeral home.
Committal services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday in the
North. Hope Cemetery,
Logansport.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be
made to the First
United Methodist Church, 201 East Third Street, Mishawaka,
