SOUTH BEND - Amanda Butler, 101, of
Meridian Nursing Center-Cardinal, formerly of 2106 Kenwood St.,
died at 8 a.m. Monday in the nursing home. Mrs. Butler was born
Oct. 18, 1892, in Greenville, Miss., and lived in South Bend
since 1924, coming from Marianna, Ark.
In 1923, in Marianna, she married William
Butler. He preceded her in death. She is survived by two
daughters, Rose Weaver and Jessie Butler, both of South
Bend; two sons, Henry of Indianapolis and William of South Bend;
nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchidren; numerous
great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Bates of
Chicago. She was a member of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist church
and its Missionary Society.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the
church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Friends
may call one hour before services on Thursday in the church.
Clark's Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
