SOUTH BEND - Larry N. Butcher, 74, of Loudon, TN, died April 15,
2010. Mr. Butcher was born November 1, 1935, in South Bend, IN,
to Neal and Winnie Butcher. He was a graduate of Riley High
School, and was an avid Notre Dame fan who ushered at the
Fighting Irish football games for 20 years. Survivors include his
wife of 48 years, Marilyn S. Butcher; three children, Brian
Butcher of Old Fort, NC, Bradley (Stephanie) Butcher of Franklin,
TN, and Suzanne Butcher of Indianapolis, IN. Survivors also
include two grandsons, Blake and Tate Butcher of Franklin, TN;
and one sister, Judy Corrello of Scotch Plains, NJ. Following
high school, Larry served in the U.S. Army Reserve before working
at Standard Oil of Indiana for 39 years. He and Marilyn retired
to Loudon, TN, in 1993 to pursue his passion for golf and her
love of waterfront living. Mr. Butcher was an avid golfer who was
known to play over 90 holes in one day. He was particularly
skilled at planning golf outings for his friends and larger
charity events. The Senior Olympics was another outlet for his
endless athletic pursuits. He first threw the javelin at age 72,
and won medals in several other events over the past few years.
Larry has been instrumental in planning this year's Senior
Olympics golfing events in the TN Southeast District. His family
was always his first priority, closely followed by his dear
friends. They all cherish the memories of a proud, loving and
dedicated man who always gave one hundred percent in life. The
family will receive friends today, April 19, at Click Funeral
Home in Lenoir City from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at
2 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, at the Tellico Village Community Church
in Loudon, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that
memorials be made to Loudon County Habitat for Humanity, or to
