March 13, 1956 - March 9, 2006
Kevin Michael Burns, 49, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away
peacefully in his home of natural causes on Thursday, March 9,
2006, surrounded by his family and friends.
He was
born on March 13, 1956, to Charles
and Patricia Ann (Crane) Burns. Kevin is survived by his wife,
Kelly; his mother, Patricia Ann Burns; a stepdaughter, Amanda
Carlson; and two stepsons, Michael (Lisa) Kruk and Ian Kruk, all
of South Bend.
Kevin
was known as "Papa" to his four beautiful
granddaughters, Caitlin, Jordan,
Jenna and Isabella. Also left to cherish childhood memories are
his brothers and sister, Deborah (Butch) Breedlove of Granger,
Charles (Barb) Burns, David Burns and Robert Burns; and several
nieces and nephews of South Bend and Granger. Kevin was preceded
in death by his father, Charles, and his grandson, Joshua.
Kevin
graduated from LaSalle School in
1974 and attended DeVry School of Electronics in Phoenix, AZ. For
many years he worked as a baker for Kreamo Bakery.
He was
an avid NASCAR fan, a die-hard Cubs fan, and he loved music,
especially his blues. Kevin's love of life lead him to frequently
host Sunday gatherings poised as "Chef Keppo" and head
entertainer. His friends will truly miss his exquisite cooking
skills and his unique sense of humor.
The
family will receive friends today, March
12, 2006, from 2 to 6 p.m. in The McGann Hay Funeral Home, 2313
E. Edison Road, South Bend, IN. Celebration of life
services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2006, in Holy Cross
Catholic Church, with Rev. Michael Matthew, CSC, officiating.
Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame IN.
