Lucille Burkhart, 73, residing on South 33rd Street, South Bend, Ind., died at 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27, in her residence.
Mrs. Burkhart was born on June 29, 1926, in South Bend, to the late Robert Henry and Magdalena Katherine (Steif) Gooley, and had remained a lifelong resident.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Loretta Stover; and by a brother, John Gooley.
She retired from the O'Brien Paint Corporation in the graphic arts department following more than 10 years of service.
On June 12, 1948, in Mishawaka, Ind., as Lucille Gooley, she married Robert E. Burkhart, who survives.
She is also survived by two daughters, Sharon K. Davis of Wilmington, N.C., and Pat Salyer of South Bend; a son, Robert E. Burkhart of South Bend; a grandson, Justin Salyer of South Bend; a sister, Clara Vance of Mishawaka; and by a brother, Edward Gooley of South Bend.
Mrs. Burkhart was a member of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church and the Legion of Mary at the church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend.
