MISHAWAKA - Phyllis C. Burkett, 80, of Mishawaka, IN, passed away
at 10:54 PM Thursday, October 27, 2011, at Morningcrest Nursing
Home. Phyllis was born on September 30, 1931, in Brimfield, IN,
to the late Russell and Bessie (Gillespie) Loutzenhiser. On
January 7, 1950, in Michigan City, IN, she married Richard L.
Burkett. They were married 60 years. Richard preceded her in
death on May 22, 2010. Two sisters, Mona Lou Eaton and Janice
Fields, and one brother, Russell Loutzenhiser, all preceded her
in death. Mrs. Burkett is survived by two daughters, Brenda
(Steven) Treber and Linda (Gregory) Dolezal both of Mishawaka;
one son, Gary C. (Rashel) Burkett of Walkerton; and eight
grandchildren, Steven R. (Michelle) Treber, Kevin M. (Jen)
Treber, Patrick J. (Jennifer) Dolezal, Scott B. (Angela) Dolezal,
Alicia E. (Jason) Landro, Lucas J. Burkett, Daniel S. Burkett,
and Abigail E. Burkett. Also surviving are seventeen great
grandchildren, Kyle, Reece, Gabby, Ryan, Mikayla, Steven,
Chancellor, Brandon, Phoebe, Lincoln, Sophia, Ethan, Owen,
Rebekah, Caythan, Liliana, and Sarah; two sisters, Beverly Wincek
of South Bend and Carolyn (Bob) Martin of Elkhart; and three
brothers, Jack (Ellen) Loutzenhiser of Mishawaka, Richard
Loutzenhiser and Lynn (Patricia) Loutzenhiser, both of South
Bend. Phyllis served for 28 years as deputy clerk in the St.
Joseph County clerk's office, retiring in 1998. She was a member
of Grace United Methodist Church, South Bend. Funeral services
will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, October 31st, at Palmer Funeral
Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Rev. Lauren
Hall will officiate. Private burial will be held at St. Joseph
Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Friends may visit with the family
from 4:00 - 8:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home. Contributions
may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 3012 S. Twyckenham
Drive, South Bend, IN 46614 or to Alzheimer's Services of
