Mildred L. Burkett, 74, residing on Strathmoor St., Mishawaka, IN passed away at 2:15 a.m., Thursday, May 31, 2001, at Hospice House, South Bend. She was a self-employed seamstress. Mrs. Burkett was born on January 2, 1927 in South Bend to the late James and Delilah (Cobb) Louks and was a lifelong area resident.

On October 13, 1971, in South Bend she married Kenneth B. Burkett, who preceded her in death in 1994. Mrs. Burkett is survived by a daughter, Mary Lou Pallo of Mishawaka; a son, Gene Pyke of Sturgis, MI; four grandchildren, Donald, Joseph, Jordan, and Mandi; and a sister, Ruth (Warren) Ogle of Morley, MI.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2001 at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Rev. Sam Oliver will officiate. There will be no visitation. Palmer Funeral Home, South Bend, is handling arrangements. Contributions in memory of Mildred L. Burkett may be given to Hospice House, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
