Miles Bunch, aged 21, of 725 South 23d street, a glass
blower employed by the Culler Neon Sign company, 311 East Wayne
street, was electrocuted while at work at his place of employment
at about 9:40 a.m. this morning. He died en route to St. Joseph
hospital in the city ambulance.
According to Coroner Doland C. Grillo, Mr. Bunch was at work in
the basement of the place with another employee, Jack Owens, who
resides at the Mishawaka tourist camp west of the city on state
route no. 2. Mr. Bunch, according to Mr. Owens, was engaged in
evacuating a neon tube by means of electricity and apparently
grasped a "live" wire. About 220 volts of electricity
passed through his body.
Mr. Owens, according to the coroner, said Mr. Bunch turned, made
an outcry and fell to the floor.
Patrolman Peter R. Rudynski and Adolph Graf, ambulance
attendants, administered first aid. When they saw that the man
was weakening, they started to the hospital.
