10, 1924 - April 26, 2010SOUTH BEND - Phyllis M. Powell Reese Buchanan, 85, of South Bend, IN, was called home on Monday, April 26, in Texas Harris Methodist Hospital, Fort Worth, Texas. Phyllis was born on August 10, 1924, in South Bend, IN, to Everett and Grace Powell, who preceded her in death. Phyllis moved from Michigan in her early years and remained a resident of South Bend until February 2009 when she moved to Texas. Phyllis graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1943. She worked as a nursing technician at Memorial Hospital for 32 years. She was a member of St. Paul Bethel Baptist Church where she was a faithful servant of the Lord. Phyllis was preceded in death by her only son, Mark F. Woodmore Sr. She leaves behind a daughter, Beverly (Robert Sr.) Leeks of Azle, Texas; granddaughters, Cindy Reese and Regina Leeks of Indianapolis, Cherrelle Woodmore, Dominque Dixon and Mary Williams of South Bend; grandsons, Mark F. Woodmore Jr. and Robert Leeks Jr. of Indianapolis; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Sanders III, Austin Perkins and Lauryn Taborn of Indianapolis; niece, Linda Mourning of Cassopolis, MI; nephews, Fred Lawson of Indianapolis and Douglas Lawson of Puerto Rico; godsisters, Emma Townsend, Irene Curry and Merle Weaver of South Bend, IN. Phyllis is also survived by a host of other godchildren, family and friends. Visitation services for Phyllis Buchanan will be held Friday, April 30, in the Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home, 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend, IN, from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 1, in St. Paul Bethel Baptist Church, 621 Lindsey Street, South Bend, IN, at 11 a.m. Revered Gilbert Washington will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral services.
