Betty Cushman Bryant, 92, of Wakewa
Avenue, South Bend, Ind., died at 12:53 p.m. Friday, April 4, in
Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center following a short illness.
Mrs. Bryant was born July 22, 1910, in New Bethlehem, Pa., to the
late Harry and Madge (Jones) Weber and had lived in
Ford City, Pa., until moving to South Bend. In Kittanning, Pa.,
she married Jack Cushman, who preceded her in death in
1967. On June 5, 1972, in South Bend, she married Paul S. Bryant,
who died in 1978. She was also preceded in death by two brothers,
Harry S. and William R. Weber. She is survived by a daughter,
Betsy Roessner of South Bend; a granddaughter, Cricket
Roessner of Ridgeway, Colo.; and a sister, Madge M. Weber of
Kittanning. Mrs. Bryant was an avid tennis and bridge player. She
belonged to the St. Joseph Valley Bridge Club, among others. She
was a member of Benevolent Order of Elks #235 Auxiliary in South
Bend, Morris Park Country Club, and the University Club.
Private services and burial will be held at
St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. There will be no
visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St.
Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637 or to
Animal Control of South Bend. Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N.
William St., is handling arrangements.
